The 1000 m raster dataset represents selected top location score areas filtered by exclusive criteria: access to finance, distance to major roads, access to IT, and distance to urban areas. The layer was produced under the scope of FAO’s Hand-in-Hand Initiative, Geographical Information Systems - Multicriteria Decision Analysis for value chain infrastructure location. The location score is achieved by processing sub-model outputs characterizing logistical factors for the slaughterhouse facilities siting: Demand, Supply, Infrastructure/accessibility. Access to finance, distance to roads, and urban areas are defined using a linear distance threshold: • Banks - approx. 10km • Major roads - approx. 2km • Access to IT is characterized by applying the mobile broadband coverage map.

The raster dataset consists of a 1000 m score grid for slaughterhouse industry facilities, produced under the scope of FAO’s Hand-in-Hand Initiative, Geographical Information Systems - Multicriteria Decision Analysis for value chain infrastructure location. The analysis is based on livestock production potential using proximity to cities, population density, poverty and density of cattle, goats, sheep or pigs. The score is achieved by processing sub-model outputs that characterize logistical factors: 1. Supply - Feed and livestock distribution. 2. Infrastructure - Transportation network (accessibility) 3. Poverty data. It consists of an arithmetic weighted sum of normalized grids (0 to 100): (”Livestock Density” * 0.35) + ("Railway Accessibility" * 0.25) + (“Major Cities Accessibility” * 0.2) + ("Poverty" * 0.1) + ("Population density" * 0.1)

The raster dataset consists of a 1000 m score grid for crops storage location, produced under the scope of FAO’s Hand-in-Hand Initiative, Geographical Information Systems - Multicriteria Decision Analysis for value chain infrastructure location. The location score is achieved by processing sub-model outputs that characterize logistical factors for selected crop warehouse locations: • Supply: Tropical fruit. • Demand: Human population density, Major cities population (national and bordering countries). • Infrastructure/accessibility: main transportation infrastructure. It consists of an arithmetic weighted sum of normalized grids (0 to 100): ("Crop Production" * 0.35) + (“Railway Accessibility” * 0.25) + (“Major Cities Accessibility” * 0.2) + (”Poverty” * 0.1) + ("Human Population Density" * 0.1)

  • This dataset represents the second-level administrative unit 'Cercles' of Mali. Mali is divided into eight regions and one capital district (Bamako); those are subdivided into 55 cercles. The dataset was uploaded by Institut Géographique du Mali, National Geospatial Information Authority in September 2021 to Second Administrative Level Boundaries (SALB) Program of United Nations. The reference scale for this Geospatial data is equivalent to 1:1,000,000 scale, or larger scale. Data was downloaded from UN-SALB site in May 2022, feature topology/geometry was corrected, international borders validated against the United Nations official borders (United Nations Geospatial Information Section - UN-Map 2018). The dataset is part of FAO's Hand-in-Hand (HiH) second administrative level boundaries 2022 dataset series, published on the HiH Geospatial Platform for thematic mapping, integration of geospatially enabled statistics, zonal statistics extraction, and used for HiH initiative geospatial analysis (GIS-MCDA, suitability/location analysis, agricultural typologies).

Mobile cellular telephone subscriptions are subscriptions to a public mobile telephone service using cellular technology, which provide access to the public switched telephone network. Post-paid and prepaid subscriptions are included.

  • Accessibility to major cities dataset is modelled as raster-based travel time/cost analysis, computed for the largest cities (>15k habitants) in the country. This 1km resolution raster dataset is part of FAO’s Hand-in-Hand Initiative, Geographical Information Systems - Multicriteria Decision Analysis (GIS-MCDA) aimed at the identification of value chain infrastructure sites (or optimal location).

  • This dataset represents the third-level administrative unit 'freguesias' of Cape Verde. The dataset was originally produced by the Instituto Nacional de Gestão do Território (INGT), Cape Verde from 2010 administrative division. The reference scale for this Geospatial data is equivalent to 1:5,000 scale. The data was sourced from FAOCV in February 2022, feature topology/geometry was corrected, and international borders validated against the United Nations official borders (United Nations Geospatial Information Section - UN-Map 2018).

  • This dataset represents the administrative units 'Gewogs' which are the second-level subdivisions of Bhutan. The dataset was originally produced by the Department of Survey and Land Records under National Land Ministry, Bhutan. The data was sourced from FAO-Bhutan in March 2022, feature topology/geometry was corrected, and international borders validated against the United Nations official borders (United Nations Geospatial Information Section - UN-Map 2018).
