Water Accounting in Tigris and Euphrates River Basins

The rapid water accounting of the Tigris and Euphrates River Basin has been carried out by IHE Delft using the FAO Water Productivity (WaPOR) V2 database, to gain full insights into the state of the water resources in the basin for the period from 2016 to 2021.One of the objective of the study is to explore the implications of irrigation activities on the marshes in the Southern part of Iraq. This aspect is at the core of the activities of the Water Peace and Security project in Iraq, to which this WA+ study contributes by providing evidence-based data on water resources availability and use.
