The United Nations term Landlocked Developing Countries describes countries with serious constraints on the overall socio-economic development. Due to lack of territorial access to the sea and therefore remoteness and isolation from world markets causing high transit and transportation costs.\n\nExports and imports of LLDCs are required to transit through at least one neighbouring State, and often have to change the mode of transport frequently. This substantially increases the cost of trade for LLDCs and is a key factor in preventing their effective integration into the global trading system.\n\nAt present, 32 countries belong to the Group of landlocked developing countries (LLDCs): 16 are located in Africa, 12 in Asia, 2 in Latin America and 2 in Central and Eastern Europe\n\nSource: /nhttps://unctad.org/en/Pages/ALDC/Landlocked%20Developing%20Countries/UN-recognition-of-the-problems-of-land-locked-developing-countries.aspx\nhttps://www.nationsonline.org/oneworld/developing_countries.htm
